A self-paced course · CPD accredited, 1 credit

You are the brakes: using AI safely, securely and responsibly.

Brakes are what let a car go fast. This course gives everyone in your organisation the judgement to use large language model chatbots with real confidence, and the instinct to know when to ease off.

Why this course

Confidence is what makes AI pay off.

Your teams are already finding smart uses for generative AI — drafting, summarising, analysing, thinking out loud. This course gives that momentum a foundation: what the tools are doing under the bonnet, where human judgement carries the most weight, and how to recognise the moments that deserve a closer look.

It's short enough for your whole organisation to complete, and specific enough that the habits show up in the work the same week. Everyone finishes with the same shared language and the confidence to keep going.

Regulators have set the direction clearly. Article 4 of the EU AI Act has applied since February 2025, and as amended in July 2026 it asks organisations that provide or deploy AI systems to take appropriate measures supporting the development of AI literacy among their staff and anyone operating AI on their behalf. A short course that reaches your entire workforce is a practical, evidenceable measure of exactly that kind.

"Brakes are what make speed possible. With every AI tool, that is you."

— Emma Johnson

What you will cover

Built in order. One risk reflex.

The course builds in a deliberate order: understand the tool, feel its benefit, see the risks clearly, look honestly at your own habits, then leave with a method you will use. You finish with a reflex you carry into every prompt.

Who it's for

Everyone who touches these tools

This course is for everyone using generative AI, whatever their role or technical background — from the front line to the leadership team to generation shapers. If you use, or are about to use, large language model chatbots in your day, this course was built for you.

For organisations

One short course that reaches everyone, so AI confidence spreads right across the organisation. Buy seats in bulk and track completion as your people work through it.

For leaders

A documented, organisation-wide measure supporting AI literacy — what Article 4 of the EU AI Act asks for — ready for the moment a board, an auditor or a client asks how you support safe AI use.

For individuals

A course that sharpens how you work with AI for good, plus the language to pass on to the people around you, at work and at home.

How it's taught

Short, story-driven and genuinely watchable

The course is fully online and entirely self-paced, taught through video, real cases and quick decision exercises. It is written to be finished in one sitting, over a lunch break, with no room to book.

It is built by Emma Johnson, who has spent 20 years in AI, data, compliance, technology and business change, including senior AI safety leadership inside a global bank — the same practice that underpins the Academy's certification.

What you're actually buying

No surprises. Here's exactly what happens.

One hour, one sitting

A self-paced video course with real cases running through it — built to be watched in one go, not spread across a week. Headphones help; there's a moment partway through that lands best with full attention.

Nothing technical

No prerequisites. If you've ever typed a question into a chatbot, you're the audience — whatever your role or background.

Access that doesn't expire

Your course link is yours to keep. Stop partway if you need to, and pick it back up whenever suits you — your progress is saved.

A certificate you keep

Score 65% or above and your certificate is ready to download from the final page — yours to add to your LinkedIn profile, plus 1 CPD credit toward your professional development.
